BEIRUT: A twin cities agreement was signed Thursday by the mayors of Beirut and Rabat. Bilal Hamad and his guest, Fathallah Oualaou, inked the agreement in the presence of the President of the Lebanese-Moroccan Committee, former Minister Laila Solh, Morocco’s ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Oumlil, and other figures. Hamad highlighted the importance of cooperation between Beirut and Rabat, and promised to form a special committee to ensure the agreement would not be neglected, as with similar initiatives. For his part, Oualaou said that he hoped the agreement would facilitate the exchange of expertise in all fields. “This agreement is also a tool for communication between businessmen and businesswomen, and a tool to bring the two countries closer in the economic field and in organizing commercial exhibitions,” he said. – The Daily Star
