Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) allocated $20bn to implement projects during the 2010-2015 five-year plan to ease traffic and increase the efficiency of basic services, said a senior Ashghal official.

Ashghal plans to establish two roads linking Bani Hajir roundabout to Shahaniya and Al Muntazah to the new interchange of the Industrial area, said Jamal Shureida Al Kaabi, Managing Director of Roads Designs Department of Ashghal, on the sideline of 2011 Qatar Transport Conference (MEED).

Roads of Luseil (from the Arch roundabout to Ritz Carlton hotel), Al Muntazah (from Industrial Area to Woqod roundabout), Dukhan (from Al Mannai to Bani Hajir roundabouts) are the key projects to be implemented at present, he said.

Ashghal is running currently financial and technical evaluation on the road linking the new interchange of the Industrial Area to Al Watan petrol station. Work has kicked off to transfer Tadamun roundabout to interchange.

Ashghal considers aesthetic, environmental and future dimensions in implementing projects to cope with 2030 Qatar vision in cooperation with Mowasalat, Woqod and the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, he said.
