Cairo-based Arab Contractors Company, a state-owned firm, has bid for projects in Libya valued at about USD 1 billion through its recently opened office in Tripoli, a senior executive told Zawya.
"Libya affords wide investment opportunities in contracting, construction and hotels and to participate in a number of projects related to the reconstruction of Libya," Arab Contractors deputy chairman Effat Abdullah said. The company opened an office in Tripoli last month to speed up the completion of projects acquired before a revolution that erupted in February 2011 overthrew the dictatorship of Muammar Gaddafi, and to compete for new projects arising from the reconstruction boom, he said.
Arab Contractors will bid for projects that include general contracting, infrastructure, bridges, pipe installation, maintenance, sewage and refining stations, ports, engineering, electricity, real estate and tourism sectors, Abdullah said.
