ALGIERS -- The Algerian-Iranian Follow-up Committee started its second session here on Monday with mulling the draft action plan for cooperation in 2010.
The plan slates 19 domains of cooperation for execution by the two Muslim nation next year, Algerian Deputy Minister of the Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel told reporters after the opening ceremony of the session.
This year's session, co-chaired by Messahel and Iranian Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ali Nikzad, is scheduled to work out the agenda of the higher joint committee, to be held in Tehran next year.
"It provides an opportunity for both sides to explore the different aspects of cooperation particularly in the field of housing, urbanization, water resources, industry and transport," the Algerian senior official revealed. "The two sides will gauge the actions included in the bilateral cooperation plan for 2009 and elaborate cooperation plan for 2010," he added.
During the first session of the follow-up committee, held in Tehran last year, the two sides specified 16 projects of cooperation in the various fields including, customs, prevention of double taxation, and air transport, Messahel recalled.
On his part, Nikzad said the political leaders of the two countries share the desire to strengthen ties in all domains particularly the economic, commercial, energy, transport, and housing ones.
Iran and Algeria enjoy huge natural resources and strategic geographic locations which provide potentials for more effective and fruitful cooperation, he added.
