MAFRAQ -- Minister of Health Abdul Latif Wreikat on Monday said the ministry would transform Al Bashir Public Hospital into a comprehensive medical city this year at a cost of JD55 million.

He noted that the ministry would also provide the hospital with specialised centres and departments to upgrade the level of services provided to patients.

In statements during the launch of an awareness campaign to acquaint Mafraq Governorate residents with the services provided by the Cisco care-at-a-distance clinic, Wreikat said the ministry would also establish a hospital in Irbid this year at a cost of JD30 million to ease the pressure on public hospitals in the governorate.

Other projects to be implemented this year include the establishment of a hospital in Zarqa at a cost of JD60 million, which will be accredited as a teaching hospital and be affiliated with the Hashemite University.
