Al Baraka's core competence is setting up industries. It has so far completed more than 150 assignments involving feasibility studies, market research, business strategy development, turnaround studies and project appraisals for various institutions.

The group has successfully conceptualised, promoted and implemented several major manufacturing projects in the GCC including Salalah Mills Company, Omani Packaging Company, Dhofar Vegetalbe Oils & Derivatives Company, Gulf Plastic Industries Company, A'Saffa Poultry Farms and Oman Ceramics Company.

"Project management services are common in developed countries but such services are partially provided by engineering consultants who carry out only a technical part on a turnkey basis. Project financing, licences, project accounting and business strategy development are beyond the scope of typical project management groups," said Nelson P Mathew, who was the previously General Manager of Al Baraka Economic Consultancy (Oman) and current CEO of AlBaraka group.

He said: "Our success as a group is for most of the projects implemented by us, actual project costs have been lower than the estimated cost. Salalah Mills Company is a case in point. Similarly, in some cases, the plant capacity has been increased substantially without any addition to the estimated cost."

Shaju Jose, COO, said the company has a competent team of professionals with the right qualifications and experience in project management, marketing, production planning and control, feasibility studies, financial analysis and project accounting. An experienced project management team will be able to conceptualise the project properly and schedule the project implementation ore effectively.
