Ajman, Oct 17th, 2012 (WAM) - Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman HH Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi opened on Wednesday, the 'Innovative Thinking: A Challenge to Education' conference organised by Umm Al-Momineen Association in collaboration with the Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST).

The two-day conference taking place at the AUST?s Sheikh Zayed Center for Conferences and Exhibitions is organised as part of the events to Mark 26th Knowledge Day Celebrations in Ajman.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, a number of other Sheikhs and senior officials were present at the opening ceremony.

Before opening, the Ruler, accompanied by officials, toured the exhibition taking place on the fringes of the conference. The exhibition and the conference epitomise the motto of this year?s Knowledge Day: 'Knowledge is Love and Perfection'.

After declaring the conference open, the Ruler praised the efforts of Umm Al Momineen Association and Ajman University of Science and Technology for organising the event that will shine light on a number of important issues affecting education and its development.

The Ruler also praised the efforts of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research led by minister Nahyan Bin Mubarak in evolving strategies and programs to develop higher education in the country on strong foundations.

The conference this year aims at addressing the topic of innovative thinking, by discussing ways to advance innovative thinking amongst the country's youth.

Five sessions spread over two days will tackle innovative thinking as a challenge to education.

The parallel exhibition showcases various student and youth projects and innovations in the areas of science and engineering.
