Doha: Al Ahli Hospital is all set to make a change over in the health care system with its new 'love' initiative.
The unique programme themed Experience Love, Experience Al Ahli Hospital will include all the administrative, clinical and other departments of the hospital.
"Studies have shown that love is the best medicine," said Abdulwahed Al Mawlawi, Managing Director and CEO, AAH. "A little love from any one can do wonders during the treatment. It is a scientifically proven fact."
"As a result of the hoardings put up as part of the programme, the clients have started asking doctors for better treatment and consideration. So the staff shows more love and caring to every one. The whole programme, though we are still at the beginning, is an attempt to institutionalise love at AAH."
The initiative for the campaign began three years ago with change the nomenclature in the hospital.
The medical jargons like patients, inpatients clinics and so on where changed.
"So first the words were changed. We had to work much on this theme as it involved changing the mind set of many. All our efforts are towards what the customers want not what the doctor wants."
"The hospital will conduct courses for the employees on the programme. A task force has been initiated to introduce the theme to all at clinical and managerial levels. Each department will conduct specialised training on hospitality. This way love is institutionalised through out the organisation. It can help in giving morale to the colleagues here and raise their ethical levels," Al Mawlawi told The Peninsula.
As part of the campaign, many alternative medicines will also be launched.
"We will have a Wellness Center were different therapies will be made available parallel to the treatment at AAH."
The campaign aims to carry the love as it beacon and change the mindset of all the people and experts in the healthcare sector.
