Abu Dhabi, Apr 28th, 2013 (WAM) -- International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) and Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) published today a book titled "Salt-tolerant Plants in UAE".
This publication came as part of ADFCA's participation at the ongoing Abu Dhabi Book Fair 2013 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.Several copies were distributed and signed by Rashid Mohamed Al Shariqi, ADFCA's Director General and Dr. Asmahan Al Wafi, the Director General of ICBA.
The book offers a detailed explanation of a range of Salt-tolerant plants in the UAE, the degree of the tolerance, geographic locations as well as its various possible usages as fodder, in traditional medicine or just decorative uses. This book also comes as a step to consolidate the UAE's determination of protecting these valuable plants and their genetic sources for their various uses. The ICBA's efforts were commended , notably the researches carried by the center to face agricultural challenges in different environments and ways to adapt with climate change and crop productivity and diversification and other sustainable forms of agriculture.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2013.
