Abu Dhabi: A course for budding entrepreneurs is set to launch for the first time at Abu Dhabi University’s (ADU) Al Ain campus on June 16, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre at ADU has announced.
The programme’s tenth course, Starting a Business, will be launched to help entrepreneurs transform their ideas into successful small or medium businesses which will contribute to the growth and development of the country.
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre has been established to provide training, coaching and mentoring for fresh graduates and researchers to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
“Starting a business course has received a lot of interest from aspiring entrepreneurs. Over 100 young entrepreneurs have graduated from this innovative course after being trained on diverse business management strategies which enable them to transform their inventive ideas to successful businesses,” said Dr Nabeel Ebrahim, Chancellor of ADU.
“In response to popular demand, the Starting a Business course, which is open to the public, will be offered to aspiring entrepreneurs in ADU at Al Ain campus,” he added.
The course includes workshops that highlight all the important components of starting and maintaining the success of a new business.
Additionally, participants will be equipped with the various skills they need to develop a business plan, understand the legal requirements, and decide on a business organisation structure.
The course will help them decide on how to select a location for their business, acquire start-up capital as well as have a thorough understanding of daily managing, accounting, recruiting, purchasing and marketing activities.
“The course aims to provide entrepreneurial education to aspiring entrepreneurs and this goal is part of ADU’s strategy, which seeks to equip young entrepreneurs with the various skills they need to set up and successfully operate their own businesses,” said Rima Shaban, manager of ADU’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre.
“The course was designed to help anyone to start a new business; it contains all you need to know about business planning, idea assessment, taking the first step toward starting your business, and many other business concepts that are presented through study cases in an interactive and innovative manner,” Rima added.
