The first top drive machinery, considered as basic equipment for the drilling machinery, was unveiled with the national brand in Taksaz Industrial Innovators Eng. Company (TIE-CO).
In an interview with Iran Daily, Mohammad Aflatounzadeh, managing director of the company said, "This equipment has been designed and manufactured with the close cooperation of experts of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) and TIE-CO."
Top drive is one of the basic equipment in the drilling rigs and plays an important role in acceleration of drilling operations of oil and gas wells, he added.
About 85 percent of functional parts of the top drive system has been localized and it benefits from the efficiency and performance with the capacity of 500 tons in drilling wells up to 7,000 meter depth, he said.
"Given the valuable experience of experts of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) and boosting synergy with scientific and research centers of the country in manufacturing new machinery, the defects observed in similar foreign-made top drive devices in hydraulic and gearbox system were removed completely and domestically-manufactured top drive has higher advantages than its similar foreign types."
Manufacturing eight top drive devices has been planned in this company at the first step, he said. "We are after marketing procedures to export these devices."
In the launching ceremony which was attended by senior managers of the National Iranian Drilling Company, Aflatounzadeh also said, "This device has been readied for transferring on the drilling rig in south oilfields and will be put into operation in the very near future".
Elsewhere in his remarks, the TIE-CO managing director said, "Manufacturing top drive drilling equipment in the country has saved 40% foreign currency as compared with its foreign purchase."
Supplying parts and offering after-sales services are salient advantages of the system, he told Iran Daily.
