o GEMS Global Citizenship programme will connect GEMS schools globally

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: GEMS Education has appointed Tracy Moxley as the Head of the Global Citizens Connections to enhance Global Citizenship Education and promote connectivity amongst all GEMS schools internationally.

Tracy joins GEMS Global with a background in educational leadership and Global Citizenship Education. Holding senior leadership roles, Tracy has been with GEMS Education for three years, within GEMS Wellington Academy, Silicon Oasis and more recently, GEMS Dubai American academy.

Tracy adds: “I am incredibly excited to create a unique and exceptional experience for GEMS students. With schools in thirteen countries globally, students will be able to connect virtually and, much more significantly, have a life-changing experience using the GEMS network of schools. In this way, we can provide a truly enriching global education, without interruption to academic studies.”

Tony Little, Group Chief Education Officer, GEMS Education: “As an international network of schools, we want to ensure that our approach to global citizenship is meaningful, recognisable and a vibrant part of GEMS Education. We are all globally connected as never before and ‘the global’ is part of our lives in almost every respect.

“A major goal is to develop sustainable and meaningful links and partnerships between our schools that range from shared curricula to student exchanges and activities. This role is linked directly to the achievement of our educational purpose – our commitment to providing not only the best possible education for all GEMS students, but ensuring that we produce successful learners. Tracy will play a key role in embedding the values and skills that students need to deal with real life learning and in navigating an increasingly complex world,” added Tony.

The GEMS Global Citizenship programme also offers GEMS Global Connect, the Global Student Exchange programme where students will be able to study in a variety of countries for part of their educational programme as well as gaining a valuable experience in another part of the world. This will be offered to GEMS Middle and High school students in the forthcoming year.

Tracy is a published author on the Middle Years programme and was a Co-Founder of a unique NGO set up and led by students, supporting peers in developing projects in Spain, India, Morocco and Uganda. She holds a Master’s degree in Media Education from the Institute of Education, University College London and has recently embarked on a PhD in Global Citizenship Education.

She has extensive experience in educational innovation, new pedagogies, teacher professional development and school improvement.
