Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - Developed Dimension for Information Technology Ltd (DDIT - www.ddgis.com) announced today (insert date) that it has completed the first large scale deployment of electronic policing systems in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the country's Special Forces for Highway Patrols. The technology includes mobile digital recording of audio and video (DVR) and License Plate Recognition (LPR) reading both old and new Saudi license plates in Arabic and English.
His Excellency Sheikh Hesham Bin Hamad Al Saedan, DDIT CEO mentioned that this project came as a result of two years continuing developments and trials with many Saudi policing agencies and suppliers to ensure that the systems are fully Arabic compatible for the operators.
His Excellency added "this project is a success story for DDIT, as a pioneer in the field of Homeland Security and GIS Systems, and its American and British technology partners, who led the research and developments, to make this happen in the Arab speaking states, whilst benefiting National Security".
His Excellency Mr. Imad Al Sayed, DDIT Managing Director, explained "The project was completed all over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 3 Phases, initially in Riyadh Region followed by Western Province and finally in Eastern Province. DDIT installed over 100 systems but now" continued Al Sayed "our main priorities have shifted to continue with the training of The Highway Patrol Officers in order to raise their capabilities in this critical sector of Homeland Security".
The first phase covered the six main roads of The Central Region but the second phase was completed during the Holy Month of Ramadan where all parties completed their tasks with complete respect yet still managing to complete the task to international standards on time and on budget.
"We were very aware that this was the first project of its kind in The Kingdom" quoted Bill Russell, DDIT Engineering and Operations Director, "and we believe the technology to be the most advanced system deployed in Saudi. Many months of research, development and in country testing were successfully completed in order to deliver the solution as a powerful but user friendly system specifically designed to suit the harsh working and environmental condition that Saudi Arabia has to endure". He added "I have the utmost respect for all of the team, including the liaison officers of Highway Patrols, for the hard work and standards of fulfillment that was achieved in particular during the Holy Month of Ramadan. I look forward to working with the team again to continue working with the teams where we can add our expertise in deploying sophisticated Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems, Mobile Date Terminals (MDT) and Command and Control Rooms".
It should be noted that LPR and DVR systems can be used to increase the security of new and existing security systems in areas such as Smart Access Control Systems and Advanced Command and Control Centres.
