MUSCAT -- The Ministry of Housing has recently given its official support to The BIG (Builders International Gathering) Show 2012 this year.
The BIG Show, recognised as one of the biggest and most significant events representing the building and construction industry in Oman, and a UFI-approved event, will be held from March 19 to 21, 2012 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.
The event underlines government initiatives to hasten infrastructure projects with its offering of the latest industry products, equipment, services, and technologies, as well as a two-day international conference that will focus on infrastructure investment and sustainability.
The event also serves as a gateway for new markets and business opportunities for international companies in Oman.
The Ministry's support comes in the light of the current economic developments and the government's Eighth Five-Year Plan that focuses on affordable housing initiatives and investment infrastructure that includes airports, seaports, road systems and integrated tourism complexes that reach over $10 billion.
"We are seeing a robust industry in Oman and there is a bright opportunity for developers here. With the entry of more construction firms, large public infrastructure projects in the pipeline, and increased residential demand, the valuable support of the Ministry is indeed welcome, timely and encouraging," said Eihab Abutaha, CEO for Communications of SABCO Group.
The BIG Show's project manager Hamood al Adawi said, "We are pleased that the Ministry of Housing has given their support to The BIG Show for the first time. We are steadily gaining momentum in booking space for local and international companies as well as for country pavilions, and we are still expecting more. To date, we have enlisted the participation of a Germany pavilion, which is the first time so far for any event in Oman."
He added that they have also received full support from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, Association of the German Trade Fair Industry and Association of Steel and Metal Processing Industry also, for the first time.
The Big Show 2012 is also supported by Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation, Agility as its Official Logistics Partner, and Golden Tulip as its Official Hotel.
