Amman - Board Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce Nael Kabariti said Jordanian-US ties were distinguished and called for further boosting them, mainly in trade and investment fields.
During a meeting with US Ambassador to Jordan Stuart E. Jones in the presence of board members and representatives of the trade sector, Kabariti said Jordan was keen to forge closer trade and economic relations with various world countries and attract foreign investments due to their importance in pushing development forward and creating job opportunities.
"Thanks to efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Jordan was able to integrate into the world economy through signing bilateral and regional trade agreements at the top of which is the Free Trade Agreement with the United States that contributed to boosting trade exchange between the two countries," he added.
Kabariti also highlighted the government's efforts to achieve political, economic and social reforms, adding the Kingdom seeks to achieve economic growth and invest in infrastructure and education, improve citizens' standards of living and fight poverty and unemployment.
The US ambassador voiced hope to increase trade exchange, adding the role that Jordan plays to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East qualifies it to achieve economic success.
Jordan's imports to the United States stood at $932 million in the first 11 months of last year while imports amounted to $990 million.
