DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Dubai's budget air carrier Flydubai said Wednesday it signed a $300 million contract with GE Aviation, a unit of General Electric Co. (GE), for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of 109 engines over the next 10 years.

The agreement, signed at the Paris Air Show, represents an investment of $2 million per CFM56-7B engine that power Flydubai's fleet of Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft, the airline said in an e-mailed statement.

Flydubai, which was launched two years ago, currently has a fleet of 17 aircraft with many more due to be delivered, and flies to the Middle East, the Indian sub-continent and, North Africa and Asia. It has ordered so far more than 50 Boeing 737 aircraft.

GE Aviation is a provider of jet and turboprop engines, components and integrated systems for commercial, military, business and general aviation aircraft.
