Students are given the opportunity to find out about the various internships, summer programs and sponsorship opportunities offered

du, the winner of last year's coveted GCC Best Employer Brand Award, in line with its mission to nurture home grown UAE talent has participated in three career days at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Dubai and Sharjah, and atZayed University respectively. This is in line with du's mission to support the UAE leadership's vision of employment and career development for UAE Nationals.

Human resources staff interacted with students giving them insight about working at du and the opportunities available to them in the form of internships, summer and sponsorship programs. The aim of the career days was to promote and support the younger generations through the specific initiatives offered by du that are specially tailored towards encouraging students and graduates to choose du as their employer of choice.

"In order for the students to make an informed decision about their future employment, we have taken it upon ourselves to educate them about the workplace environment by engaging them through various platforms," said Ibrahim Nassir, Chief Human Capital and Administration Officer, du. "One of the ways in which we engage students from the Emirates is by participating in various career days in universities and colleges. It is important for usto captivate a young generation of students by offering them training and development skills through initiatives that are specifically tailored for them."

This year du has already participated in various career fairs including the Ajman Career Fair and the Tawdheef Recruitment Fair, besides participating in in UAE-UK Pioneers Forum organised by the UAE Embassy in the United Kingdom. The Forum aimed to give the UAE students studying abroad a chance to interact with business leaders from the country and showcase the opportunities available the UAE in various sectors.

As a result, du has encouraged an increased number of Emirati employees to join the telecommunications company. In recent years, du hasgiven young Emiratis a strong start to their careers by offering them the option to participate in several du initiatives including the Masar Sponsorship programme, the Masar Graduate Trainee (GT) programme and Maharat.Through the various implemented programs during 2014, du has hired a total of 47 graduates and 28 interns. Furthermore, the company currently sponsors 12 students and has given 10 students AUD scholarships, the first set of graduates are expected in 2015. In addition, du hired 31 graduate trainees from CVs collected at various career fairs and career days. 

In their continued efforts to support education and innovation, du launched the Abu Dhabi campus Multimedia Lab, which follows the earlier opening of the same facility at Zayed University in Dubai. Since its Dubai inauguration, the Lab has greatly enhanced the student's learning environment.

In addition, du was recognisedin 2014 as the Employer of the Year by the Dubai Women's College for the third time. The company's continued efforts to providing equal opportunity employment, and employment opportunities for UAE nationals were acknowledged by the college.

Last year, du garnered the coveted GCC Best Employer Brand Award 2014. Moreover, in 2014, du received several accolades lauding its commitment to employees. At the Gallup Great Workplace Awards, du was the only telecommunications company to be recognised amongst the global top 36 companies, based on its high employee engagement levels.
