Dewa Awards First Consultancy Contract In Mega Solar Energy Park

DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Dubai state utility said Wednesday it has awarded M/S ILF engineers a consultancy contract for the overall development of Dubai's 12 billion U.A.E. dirham ($3.26 billion) 1000 megawatt solar energy park, as well as the construction of a 10 MW solar project.
Six international companies entered bids last November, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority , or Dewa , said in an emailed statement.
The 1000 megawatt solar energy park, named after Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is expected to begin generating electricity by the end of 2013. The first solar project in the park, to be operated under the supervision of Dewa will cost AED120 million and will be fully funded by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.
