Krauss-Maffei, Rheinmetall Hope For Major Tank Order From UAE-Report

FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)--German defense companies Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co. KG and Rheinmetall AG (RHM.XE) hope to get a major order from the United Arab Emirates, daily Handelsblatt said in an advance report to be published Monday citing industry sources.
The UAE plans to buy up to 600 tanks and approached possible suppliers, according to the report. Offers should be submitted by the end of March. The potential order volume could total around EUR1.5 billion, Handelsblatt reports.
Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Rheinmetall both weren't immediately reachable for comment on Sunday.
