Dubai's DP World Unit Signs 3-Yr Deal To Operate Canadian Port
Saturday, Jan 07, 2012
(This story was originally published Thursday.)
DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--A unit of DP World (DPW.NDB) has signed a three-year agreement to operate Canada's Nanaimo port, the Dubai-based ports operator said.
DP World Vancouver's agreement with Nanaimo Port Authority gives the company the right to operate the port's facilities, including the general cargo Duke Point facility and Assembly Wharf, DP World said in an emailed statement late Wednesday.
The current commodities handled at the three-berth Nanaimo port facilities consist of traditional forest products along with salt and kaolin. The facility also handles cruise ship passengers at a newly built berth opened for the cruise season 2011.
DP World shares Wednesday closed up 1.5% at $10 on Nasdaq Dubai.
