Abu Dhabi's Tabreed Says Saudi JV In Deal With Jabal Omar Development

DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Abu Dhabi-based National Central Cooling Co. (TABREED.DFM), better known as Tabreed , said Sunday its Saudi venture, a joint company owned with Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power and RUSD International, has signed an agreement with Jabal Omar Development Co. (4250.SA) to jointly explore the development of a district cooling system near the holy mosque in Mecca.

"Initially, the joint venture will design, build and operate a cooling plant with a capacity of 55,000 TR to supply chilled water to the proposed Jabal Omar development in Mecca for a period of 20 years," Tabreed said in a statement posted on the Dubai Financial Market website.

"The full capacity of the plant will be secured under the concession and the other contracts which are expected to be signed shortly," it added.

No financial details of the JV agreement were disclosed.

Tabreed shares last traded Sunday down 1% at AED0.96.
