Jordan Issues JOD100M T-Bills To Pay For Pwr Gen Fuels -Report

Wednesday, Jul 13, 2011

BEIRUT (Zawya Dow Jones)--The Jordanian government issued Monday treasury bills worth 100 million Jordanian dinars ($140.7 million) to help the state-owned National Electric Power Co., or Nepco , pay for purchases of oil and oil derivatives that are used in power generation, Amman-based Al Rai daily reports Wednesday citing an executive.

Nepco has paid part of the funds to local power generation companies and the other part to Jordan Petroleum Refinery Co. , Ghaleb Maabreh, Nepco 's director general, told Al Rai.

This decision was one of the measures taken by the government last week following the third attack on a pipeline in the Sinai Peninsula that carries Egyptian natural gas to Jordan, the paper says.
