Saudi Non-Oil Exports Rise 10.3% To SAR13.9B In May - Govt Data

RIYADH (Zawya Dow Jones)-Saudi Arabia's non-oil exports rose 10.3% to 13.9 billion Saudi riyals ($3.7 billion) in May, from SAR12.6 billion in the year-earlier period, data from the Central Department of Statistics and Information, or CDSI, showed Sunday.

The kingdom's imports in May inched up 0.04% in value to SAR36.7 billion compared with the corresponding period in 2010, according data posted on the CDSI website.

The kingdom's main imports were electrical appliances, transport vehicles and food products.

Saudi's main non-oil exports during the period were petrochemicals, plastics, and metals, with petrochemical products worth SAR4.8 billion, accounting for 34% of total non-oil exports.

China was the top importer of Saudi non-oil goods in May, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, India and Turkey, according to the CDSI.

The top exporters to the kingdom, the Arab world's largest economy were China, the U.S., Germany, South Korea, and Japan.
