Flydubai Signs $300M Maintenance Contract With GE Aviation

DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Dubai's budget air carrier Flydubai said Wednesday it signed a $300 million contract with GE Aviation, a unit of General Electric Co. ( GE ), for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of 109 engines over the next 10 years.

The agreement, signed at the Paris Air Show, represents an investment of $2 million per CFM56-7B engine that power Flydubai 's fleet of Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft, the airline said in an e-mailed statement.

Flydubai , which was launched two years ago, currently has a fleet of 17 aircraft with many more due to be delivered, and flies to the Middle East, the Indian sub-continent and, North Africa and Asia. It has ordered so far more than 50 Boeing 737 aircraft.

GE Aviation is a provider of jet and turboprop engines, components and integrated systems for commercial, military, business and general aviation aircraft.
