DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Abu Dhabi-based Dolphin Energy , in which Occidental Petroleum Corp. (OXY) and Total S.A. (TOT) are shareholders, said Thursday its natural gas imports from Qatar have been reduced temporarily to 1.8 billion standard cubic feet a day due to a sulfur leak at its processing plant.

Dolphin , which imports natural gas to the U.A.E. via a pipeline from Qatar, said in an emailed statement that the leak at one of its two sulfur recovery units follows a shutdown of the plant's second sulfur recovery unit between May 11 and June 3. That unit was repaired an has been operating in full since June 4, the statement added.

The leak at the first sulfur unit will reduce throughput of natural gas to the U.A.E. to 1.8 billion cubic feet a day for the duration of "the maintenance period," Dolphin said.

"Maintenance teams are rectifying the issue, which we expect will be resolved within three weeks," the company added.

Dolphin also said it expects to achieve full-year production of 730 billion standard cubic feet.
