The Lebanese American University (LAU) celebrated the Cultural Day being a part of the LAU Model Arab League that the Office of Outreach and Civic Engagement at the University is organizing in partnership with the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development and the National Council on US - Arab Relations.
The ceremony took place in Beirut Campus where hundreds students from Lebanese High Schools representing 22 Arab countries, gathered in the presence of LAU President Dr. Joseph G. Jabbra, President of the Hariri foundation for Sustainable Human Development MP Bahia Hariri and Director of Student Programs at the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations Megan E. Geissler.
Dr. Jabbra welcomed everyone and addressed the audience wishing that the political leaders would be here to see how people can come together from a variety of backgrounds to experience the fellowship, the enriching environment and the diversity that can be so positive from different background stating that the basic pillar of this program is that youth can bring people together instead of dividing people and that's why we love you and we urge you to continue.
In her turn, Geissler spoke about the National council on US - Arab relations and the program that stared in the 80s of the last century expressing that what she saw in during the whole day was really impressive and promising for the youth of Lebanon.
365 high schools students participated during the two-day activity in forming Model Arab League economic, social, cultural, and other committees where they took the roles of the ambassadors, finding solutions to the problems through resolutions.
Awards Certificates of the winning committees will be distributed on the coming June third.
