GCU-Sharjah-UAE: May 1, 2013 - His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Sharjah Capital of Islamic Culture 2014 Celebration, expressed his gratitude for His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for the trust that His Highness the Ruler has given to the executive committee to plan and execute the strategy of the celebrations.

This came during the committee's first meeting which was held on last Tuesday at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, presided over by His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Centre, and in the presence of Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qassimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority "Shurooq" and Her Excellency Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qassimi, President of Sharjah Arts Foundation.

The meeting was commenced with a presentation about the committee's organizational structure including all its sub-committees, where the executive committee agreed on the initial structural plan. The meeting resulted in the decision to create five sub-committees which are the projects committee, the events committee, the financial committee, the protocol committee and the media committee.

According to the executive committee's decisions, Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qassimi, will head the projects committee which is responsible for coordinating the new and already existing projects held by the Government of Sharjah, while Her Excellency Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qassimi, will head the events committee.

Furthermore, the financial committee will be headed by Mohammed Al Noman, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, while Majid Abdullah Bushlaibi will head the protocol committee and Osama Samra, Director of Sharjah Media Centre, the media committee.During the meeting, the committee decided to change the coordination and follow-up committee into an independent office handled by Sharjah Media Centre. The committee's members also emphasized on the importance of exerting efforts to formulate and sustain the celebration's brand and visual identity, in addition to uniting the efforts of Sharjah's government departments in order to create and execute plans and programs which are on par with the importance of this occasion.
