Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 29 April 2013 - Dr. Sarfaraz Alam, CEO of TEXPO has been awarded the 'CIO of the Year' in the 11th Teradata National IT Excellence Awards. Dr. Sarfaraz Alam won the award in recognition of promoting the cause of IT as a CIO and the impact he had on the growth and productivity of TEXPO.
The 'CIO of the Year' award recognizes leadership and thought innovation in technology applications within an organisation and emphasizes that CIOs are true visionaries as they have the daunting task of choosing the best solutions to reduce redundancies, reduce costs and thus impact the bottom line of their organisations.
Dr. Sarfaraz Alam's name was announced at a grand awards function held at Serena Hotel, Islamabad, Pakistan on 30th March 2013. The event was attended by Government officials, influential decision makers, CEOs and Heads of IT from national and global organisations.
The Chief Guest at the 11th Teradata National IT Excellence Awards included Mr. Robert Ewing, Consular Economic Affairs, Embassy of the United States in Pakistan and the Guest of honour was Mr. Mohammad Tariq Malik, Chairman National Database.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Sarfaraz Alam said, "I'm honored to accept this prestigious award. We believe this significant achievement would further strengthen our established commitment, professionalism and competence towards the use of best practices and solutions of IT within TEXPO, and we continue to play its valued role in offering IT and business solutions to our clients."
Teradata's efforts in recognizing and encouraging IT professionals and IT development in Pakistan was appreciated by Mr. Robert Ewing and Mr. Mohammed Tariq Malik, who also congratulated the winners for achieving excellence in their respective fields. To maintain neutrality and transparency in the nomination and evaluation process, Teradata engaged KPMG as an independent auditor to receive and compile nominations. KPMG also selected the judges, based on their expertise and leadership in education, IT, and related fields.
