NCB reduced its consumption of water and printing, and made use of solar energy

HRH Prince Turki Bin Nasser Bin Abdulaziz, the General President of the Meteorology and Environmental Protection, Chairman of Saudi Environment Society and Chairman of the International-Gulf Forum and Exhibition on Environment and Sustainable Development honored the National Commercial Bank (NCB) for sponsoring the "International-Gulf Forum and Exhibition on Environment and Sustainable Development" under the theme "Investment Opportunities in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and Water". The forum was held at Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Hayfa Abuzabibah, Vice President and Head of Sustainability and Business Excellence Department at NCB, assured that NCB sponsors this event as a recognition of its important role and mission to support and enhance the national development being one of the leading financial institution, and to keep up to date with the different views and visions, as well as presenting its own vision regarding the environment and sustainable development considerations.

Abuzabibah participated in the third day of the forum with a working paper entitled "The role of the financial sector in facilitating the environmental considerations in the region". She also assured the importance of enhancing public-private sectors partnerships on the environmental initiatives in different ways to encourage the investments in the sustainable practices, evaluate the economic return from renewable energy projects, and develop a strategy for corporate sustainability and social responsibility in the financial sector and its impact on the society. She added: "Both the environment conservation and application of the international environmental experiences contribute in forming a proper environment that help conserve the assets and benefits while facing this huge increase of population and expansion of cities to achieve the sustainable development."

One of the 4th Forum's highlights is that it will be the first forum in the Middle East to be held without papers to reduce printing for environment conservation.

Also, NCB developed the energy projects in its buildings, which included replacing the old air conditioners with state-of-art- ones suitable for the ideal need of the building in terms of size and usage of energy-saving equipment in the bank's head offices and a number of branches, installing water heaters operating with solar energy in 5 branches, and completing the energy audit works in a number of the bank's branches.
