International Advisory Board Members Mohamed El Erian, William Rhodes, Josef Ackermann, Martin Feldstein and Edward Morse
National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) will host world-renowned experts at its annual International Symposium at the end of this week in Kuwait.
Mohamed El-Erian, William Rhodes, Josef Ackermann, Martin Feldstein and Edward Morse, all members of NBK's International Advisory Board, will speak at NBK's International Symposium which is entitled 'Navigating Global Risks'
El-Erian, is the CEO and co-CIO of PIMCO, the global investment management firm with $2.0 trillion of assets under management. El-Erian re-joined PIMCO at the end of 2007 after serving for two years as president and CEO of Harvard Management Company. He was recently appointed by President Barak Obama as the Chairman of his Council for International Development, USA, Prevuiously he was a managing director at Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup in London and before that, he spent 15 years at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C.
Rhodes, a Senior Advisor for Citigroup, was senior vice chairman and senior international officer of Citigroup and Citibank. He gained a reputation for international financial diplomacy in the 1980s as a result of his leadership in helping manage the external-debt crisis that involved developing nations and their creditors worldwide. He is a Director of the Private Export Funding Corporation; First Vice Chairman of the Institute of International Finance; Chairman Emeritus of the Americas Society and Council of the Americas; Chairman of the U.S.-Korea Business Council; a Director of the U.S.-Russia Business Council and many others.
Ackermann, Chairman of Zurich Insurance Group, Switzerland and Former Chairman of Deutsche Bank Group, started his career at Schweizerische Kreditanstalt (SKA) in 1977. In 1990, he was appointed to the executive board of SKA, becoming its president in 1993. In 1996, he joined the management board of Deutsche Bank AG, where he was responsible for the investment banking division. In 2002, he became spokesman of the management board and chairman of the group executive committee. He was chairman of the management board from February 2006 until May 2012.
Feldstein, President Emeritus of NBER Professor of Economics, Harvard University, was Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers and President Reagan's chief economic adviser. He also served as President of the American Economic Association. In 2006, President Bush appointed him to be a member of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board. In 2009, President Obama appointed him to be a member of the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
Morse, Managing Director, Global Head of Commodity Research at Citigroup, previously worked at Lehman Brothers, Louis Capital Markets and Credit Suisse. He is a contributor to journals such as the Financial Times, the New York Times and was most recently ranked 23rd among the "Top 100 Global Thinkers of 2012" by Foreign Policy. He worked in the US government at the State Department, and later was an advisor to the United Nations Compensation Commission on Iraq as well as to the US Departments of State, Energy and Defense.
