Huawei Enterprise and Mustafa Sultan deploy Unified Communications Platform to Support 2500 Users in Oman's Ministry of Manpower
Muscat: Huawei, a global information and communications technology provider, has announced the completion of a fully integrated IP telephony solution for the Ministry of Manpower in Oman. In partnership with Mustafa Sultan Telecommunications, the system has upgraded the Ministry's existing communications network for up to 2500 users to enjoy seamless integration of voice, video, and data sharing between offices locally and internationally.
Redha Ahmed Al lawati- Director of Network & Information security at the Ministry commented, "The new technology has resulted in a number of benefits for the Ministry. Firstly by integrating all of our communications onto a single network, we significantly reduce administration and operational costs. Moreover, the new technology brings with it new features like video-conferencing, mobile integration and instant messaging"
The project which began in October of 2012 provides a unified communication and collaboration platform which serves all ministry offices and up to 2500 employees to access data on the network from their smart mobile devices while on-the-move. Huawei Technologies was awarded the project by Mustafa Sultan thanks to its system's functionality, cost efficiency, and the value-add services, providing the support and consultancy of qualified engineers on site. In addition to this, extensive training was also conducted to ensure that the IT team at Oman's Ministry were confident and well-versed with the system.
Tony Luo, General Manager of Huawei Technologies in Oman added: "Our Unified Communications and Collaborations solutions are designed to allow staff at organisations large or small to revolutionise the way they communicate with each other and share data. Our work with the Ministry is particularly unique due to the scale of the project and its application in the public sector. Our hope is that this deployment will service as a spearhead that heralds a new era of interconnectivity between government institutions across the Sultanate and the region."
B. Paninder Nath Gupta, General Manager, Mustafa Sultan Telecommunication said: "Working on the project enabled the Ministry of Manpower to pinpoint the solution that was most suitable for their business. Mustafa has a long history deploying IP and communications technology and understood the benefits that Huawei offered as an optimum price-performance solution.
"As a tier 1 level partner for Huawei, we believe that we fully understand the necessary skills in terms of technical implementation. Our technical team rolled out the solution in a record time of just four months, following the industry's best practice guidelines while ensuring zero downtime and business continuity for the ministry."
By integrating the communication needs of the Ministry of Manpower, voice messaging, mobile communications, video conferencing, call centre solution and fax technology was also created all on a single IP infrastructure. The system has facilitated users with better flexibility, mobility and productivity in the workplace. This will ultimately, lead to a much faster and simplified decision making on a day to day business."
Huawei first established its presence in the region more than one decade ago and has since made major break-throughs in Oman. In 2003, Huawei built Oman's first 3G and 4G networks which today helps people across the Sultanate stay connected. Through strong alliances with local telecom operators Huawei will continue to support the overall mission to develop a robust and modern ICT infrastructure that will solidify the Sultanate's position as an international business destination.
At COMEX this year, in recognition of the thriving vertical industries that characterise modern economic growth in Oman, Huawei will be showcasing its solutions in the smart oilfield sector for the energy industry; its virtual mini branch (VMB) solutions for the banking and financing industry; its automatic meter interface (AMI) for the utility industry; its GSM-R solution for the transportation sector; its unified communication solutions and emergency command centre for the government sector, as well as telepresence solutions developed for use in all industry sectors.
