Need independence from external influences - Maliki

BAGHDAD: Premier Nouri al-Maliki called for the independence of the national decision away from external influences, pointing out that the Baghdad Summit will open a new stage for Iraq to return to Arab ranks, according to a Premiership statement.

The statement added that Maliki met a delegation of Iraqi Lawyers Union, during which he pointed out that "the foreign countries have their agendas and interests".

"Iraq should have its full independence in its decisions, but this does not mean not to establish good relations with all countries," Maliki confirmed.

He pointed out that Iraq will regain its leading position with Arab brothers, when will host the coming Arab Summit.

Maliki praised the heritage of the Union which should be protected, as well increasing the constitutional thoughts to disseminate justice and equality among the people.
