PM, Libyan official discuss re-opening embassy in Baghdad

BAGHDAD: Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Tuesday discussed with Nasser al-Manna', an adviser to the Libyan prime minister, means to improve bilateral relations and re-opening the Libyan Embassy in Baghdad, according to a statement by the cabinet.

"Prime Minister Maliki received a message today from his Libyan counterpart Abd al-Rahim al-Keeb on Iraqi-Libyan ties and the re-opening of the Libyan embassy in Baghdad," read the statement as received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Maliki touched on the Libyan prisoners issue and added that only Iraq's justice has the sole right to consider this matter.

The Libyan delegation accompanying Manna' expressed hope for bilateral relations to be strengthened in all fields, including the re-building of its armed forces and security apparatus and organizations supervising elections.
