Eros Group: A DSF hit

DUBAI -- Eros Group -- the sole distributor of world-renowned brands such as Samsung, Hitachi, Candy, TCL, BenQ -- and one of the leading players in consumer electronics, telecom and allied multi-products in the Middle East, had a highly successful DSF 2012 across its 29 outlets and leading electronic chains in the UAE.

"DSF has always been one of Dubai's most well promoted events and this year was no exception. We had seen a tremendous growth for Eros Group 's business in this year's DSF as compared to 2011 and that's because innovation is a key feature of DSF every year and we strive to introduce new elements into our core characteristics of shopping, making it unique and even more exciting for our customers every year," deputy chief executive officer Niranjan Gidwani said.

Eros Group 's overall business grew by 52 per cent during DSF 2012 as compared to DSF 2011. Among its well-renowned brands, Samsung alone attained a staggering 49 per cent market share in the flat panel TV business, while Eros Group -- in conjunction with all the brands it represents in flat panels -- gained a market share of close to 60 per cent during DSF 2012 that proves highly competitive.

Additionally, in the Samsung smart phones and mobiles category, Eros Group has sold double the number of phones it sells during a normal month. This inclines the Samsung mobile market share to well above the 30 per cent mark. Moreover, in the refrigerator category, Hitachi has grown by an impressive 36 per cent while the Eros Retail Division jumped by an exceptional 31 per cent in overall value during DSF 2012.

It has also recorded 26 per cent growth in flat panels and an astounding 140 per cent growth in mobiles, particularly Samsung. TCL has grown substantially and has taken up almost 40 per cent of the OEM share of the LCD and LED market.

During DSF 2012, Eros Group presented unbeatable offers via raffles to win a couple of packages to dream destinations and exciting promotions with the latest products and appliances from the electronic giants. A lot of the excitement and buzz stemmed from Samsung giving away four Samsung Homes, five Hitachi Japan trips, 10 TCL 3D LED TVs and three Candy Milan trips. Eros Digital Home also gave away a Galaxy Note and Samsung Smart daily TV. Eros Group Brands in total gave 86 remarkable prizes valued at over Dh500,000.
