Syrian events "disastrous" - Nujaifi
BAGHDAD: Parliament Speaker Usama Nujaifi today described the present situation in Syria as "disastrous," pointing out that "any international intervention will result in division of the country", according to a statement issued by his office.The statement said that Nujaifi met with the Islamic Conference delegation, where he expressed his "concern of the Syrian crisis that rings the bells for civil confrontations and international intervention".
It added that both sides discussed future bilateral relations.
Head of the delegation pointed out the mechanisms of a new conference to continue the works of Mecca Conference, stressing that the new conference will establish benevolence, co-existence and dialogue in Iraq to be a model in the region.
