ISC to hold Oman-India cultural fiesta in March
MUSCAT -- Oman and India are traditionally old friendly nations and it is a great opportunity to showcase the culturally rich and traditional art forms of both these nations at one platform. To this end, the Indian Social Club (ISC), Malayalam Wing is organising a unique and a first of its kind mega event titled "Oman-India Cultural Fiesta" in Muscat as part of its 15th Anniversary.Showcasing the time-tested Omani traditional art forms, several organisations registered and approved by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture will depict the country in terms of dance, art and music.
Representing India, a talented team of 30 artists from India will perform various art forms of India ranging from North to South and East to West of India. On the inaugural day a well known Omani dance item and one show of Indian art form are planned.
The event will be formally inaugurated by a high profile dignitary from the Government of Oman and several ministerial representatives, undersecretaries and other dignitaries from Oman Government are also expected to the event.
Ambassadors and diplomats stationed in Oman are also expected to attend. Businessmen from Oman and India are likely to attend the inauguration of this prestigious event.
"Aside these high-level representations, a minister from the Government of India is likely to attend the inaugural ceremony and we are working on this arrangement", T Bhaskaran, Convener of the Wing said in a press statement.
After the inauguration on March 21, programmes in the following days 22 and 23 will be shifted to Qurum Natural Park.
On the third day, a raffle draw will be held in the presence of Muscat Municipality and the first prize is a Mitsubishi Lancer, offered by Mitsubishi Motors. There are several other prizes to be won.
An Indian Food Festival is also planned for March 22 and 23 and the visitors will have the opportunity to taste and enjoy different types of food of different Indian states.
This three-day special event is organised in collaboration with Al Noor Association for the Blind to which all the surplus money from this event will go to the construction of a blind school being constructed in Nizwa.
"We are proud to be associated with Al Noor Association for the Blind and will be delighted to give a good donation to their proposed project", he added.
Malayalam Wing of Indian Social Club is an active and leading linguistic wing of ISC and remain active throughout the year with various cultural and community projects.
"We are a regular donor of blood to Oman's Blood Bank and Oman's Ministry of Health has already recognised the Malayalam Wing for its continuous support to Oman Blood bank by honouring us with an award".
