UAE job market in expansion mode
NCE to unlock opportunities in banking, financial & government sector for national graduates
The number of Emiratis entering the banking and finance sector has been witnessing a consistent rise, with banks, insurance firms, currency exchanges and other financial institutions opening up enough employment and training opportunities for the UAE youth.
The highlights of the exhibition were announced at a press conference held at Expo Centre Sharjah on February 14. It was addressed by Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, Director-General of Expo Centre Sharjah , Jamal Al Jasmi, General Manager of the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies, co-organizer of the exhibition), Rehab Lootah, Chief Business Development & Sales, MAWARID and Abdulla Al Meshwy - Manager of Directorate of Human Resources .
Speaking about the current job market, Mr. Midfa said, The UAE has been recognized as the most diversified economy in the Middle East and the banking and finance sector is generating more job opportunities."
Highlighting the buoyancy of the sector, thousands of jobs, training and internship opportunities at several leading banking and financial institutions will be on offer at the upcoming 14th edition of the National Career Exhibition.
The event is held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and will see more than 100 local and regional exhibitors taking part.
The banking sector is on the right track with its Emiratisation programmes. A slew of measures have been initiated to groom national graduates to take up jobs in the private sector, including several federal and emirate level bodies, budget allocations, the Khalifa Fund and a comprehensive Emiratisation database, among others.
Banks and several financial institutions have been pro-active in this regard, by introducing their own training and skill development programmes, and offering nationals enough opportunities for career growth. NCE will continue to be the best platform that helps Emirati graduates prepare for their careers in financial establishments.
The organizers also pointed out that the impressive participation of government organizations reflects the importance they place on nurturing the national human capital.
Apart from federal and emirate level entities, the UAE Air Force and Navy will also have a stand at the exhibition for the second time in a row, offering a prestigious career option and at the same time a direct opportunity to serve the country. The Forces will be looking for qualified graduates for their technical job openings.
In order to provide a holistic approach in preparing the UAE youth to take up responsible positions in various sectors, the show will also feature a Higher Education Pavilion. This will be a boon for those looking for avenues to equip themselves with better skills and prepare themselves for top-level jobs.
Apart from job and training opportunities at these organisations, the show will showcase additional activities in the form of workshops, symposia, counseling and discussion sessions, prominent among them being the seminars to be organised by Sharjah HR Department on Leadership and Management Skills for fresh gradates.
Leading lenders in the country have come forward to support the show. The Diamond Sponsor is Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, the third largest bank in the UAE and second largest in Abu Dhabi by assets. Sharjah Islamic Bank, the biggest bank in Sharjah; National Bank of Abu Dhabi, the country's second-largest; and Dubai's leading lender Commercial Bank of Dubai are the Gold Sponsors. Etisalat is also supporting the event as the Official Telecom sponsor.
The National Career Exhibition will be organised by Expo Centre Sharjah in association with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Emirates Institute for the Banking and Financial Studies.
