Yemen, IMF resume talks

Yemen and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held on Saturday an official talk session in Sana'a.

The session was chaired by minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed al-Sa'adi and Chief of IMF Mission to Yemen Dr. Hassan al-Atrash.

IMF Mission's Chief briefed the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation on the results of the IMF mission's meetings with some government bodies that focused on preparing an urgent economic support program to assist the Yemeni government to encounter the economic challenges during the transitional stage as well as to tackle the economic aftermaths of the political crisis, which lasted over eleven months.

Al-Atrash reviewed the recommendations the IMF mission has come out with during its current visit to Yemen, which concentrated mainly on increasing the government revenues and improving the state general budget's resources.

The Planning Minister asserted the government's keenness on boosting cooperation relations between Yemen and the Fund, pointing to the importance of IMF's assistance to prop up the government's efforts aiming to enhance the state's public resources and improve the efficiency of public finance.
