Tehran - Russia and Lebanon have shown willingness to purchase eggs from Iran, head of Tehran Province Agricultural Jihad Department for Poultry Affairs Ali Moradi said here Monday. The official added favorable conditions exist for exporting surplus eggs.
Describing export of eggs as a means for supporting poultry breeders, he noted that the country can compete with Turkey in the field.
Russia, Lebanon and Iraq have shown keen interest in importing eggs from Iran given the proximity to the country and easy transportation, Moradi pointed out.
Naser Nabipour recalled that the government approved 70 percent tariff for egg exports in 2009 due to the spread of bird flu disease and death of laying hens and broilers as well as price hikes.
Nabipour put the global egg exports at 450,000 to 500,000 tons.
He listed proper packing, marketing, and inking long-term deals as important factors for egg exports.
