Iran to boost security of its borders: police chief

Tehran - Islamic Republic has plans to boost security of its land and marine borders in the coming years, Iran's Police Chief Esmail Ahmadi Moghaddam said on Monday.

Speaking to the police staff and commanders of Hormozgan Province, the official declared the country's will to boost the security of its borders as part of The Fifth Socio-Economic Development Plan of Iran.

"Iran has learned how to answer foreign interventions during the three decades of threats and its progressive police is ready to confront any outside challenge," the police commander noted.

He added that People's presence in rallies held by people across the country on the 22nd of Bahman (February 11) in commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution proved that the revolutionary way of thinking among the Iranians is still alive and they are vigilant of the international situation.

"The Islamic Republic's dispute with the hegemonic powers, as well as the Zionist regime, will not resolve because they want Tehran to surrender to their illegal demands," Ahmadi Moghaddam underlined.

He underscored that Iran is amongst the most secure countries of the region.

Celebrations marking the 33rd anniversary of the Islamic revolution were held in all Major cities of Iran including the capital on February 11; Iranians nationwide commemorated the event.

The day was the ending of 10 days of celebrations all across the country known as "10-Day Dawn", which culminated on February 11, marking the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 33 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchy in the country.

The Islamic Revolution, under the guidance of the late Imam Khomeini

, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.

Iran has over a dozen of international and overland border for crossings. These allow overland travelers cross enter and travel to Iran by crossing the borders of Iran from Iraqi Kurdistan, from Turkey, from Armenia and Azerbaijan, from Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and from Pakistan. But for those Tourists who intend to travel to Iran by air then they can choose to fly to Tehran, Tabriz, Mash'hadad, Isfahan, Shiraz, Bandar Abbas, Kish and Gheshm Island, as Iran's Internationals Airports.
