Over 10,000 scientific educational grants available - Maliki

BAGHDAD: Iraqi Premier Nouri al-Maliki announced the allocation of 10,000 study grants for Iraqi students abroad within scientific allocations.

In his meeting with Basra University students, he confirmed that these allocations are available within the Iraqi budget.

He added that the Higher Education Ministry sent more than 700 students abroad at the government's expense.

Maliki stressed the intention to develop higher education and building scientific institutions, as well as the students themselves.

He pointed out that terrorism was directed against our physicians, engineers and thinkers,

because they form the modern Iraq, thus we are trying to prevent any intervention in Iraqi internal affairs.
