Thi Qar province demands Maliki visit

THI QAR: Thi Qar's provincial council demanded that Premier Nouri al-Maliki visit the province to find solutions to pending questions.

Provincial sources told Aswat al-Iraq that the province suffers from a number of pending problems which were not solved, and are affecting the daily life of citizens in the province.

Among the problems are the questions of electricity and limited funds allocated to the province.

Premier Maliki has visited Nassiriya twice since assuming his post as premier; his last was on 3 November, 2011.

According to media reports, Maliki demanded that members of the provincial council should expose their demands "in under a minute's time".

Nassiriya, the center of Thi Qar province, lies 365 km south of the capital, Baghdad.
