DEWA recognizes 56 of its distinguished employees as part of Special Acts Award
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has organized a ceremony for its employees who won Special Acts Award in recognition to their performance and efficiency that resulted in conserving DEWA 's resources, making savings in costs amounting to 207 million dirhams, and delivering best service to its customers. This recognitions falls in line with DEWA 's strategy to stimulate distinguished employees and highlight their relentless efforts.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA , and Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Vice President-Human Resource Division and Executive Vice President-Corporate Support Division have honored DEWA 's distinguished employees, in the presence of some of DEWA 's top officials and employees.

"In line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to pay attention to distinguished employees, follow up their achievements, and recognizing and encouraging them to continue their excellence and efforts, DEWA is keen to recognize its distinguished employees who make great efforts for DEWA 's success and prosperity. Moreover, DEWA launches several initiatives, awards and programmes aiming to recognize employees and encouraging them to make more and more efforts. Special Acts Award is one of the most effective means to encourage employees to pursue their relentless efforts that can save DEWA financial costs and conserve its resources," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA .

" DEWA is committed to recognizing its distinguished employees, who won Special Acts Award all the year round as part of its strategy to encourage employees to make more efforts to achieve excellence, which will promote employees either as individuals or as a team," added His Excellency.

"Special Acts Award, which is part of Excellence Awards and Employees Recognition Programme applied at DEWA , is given to both individuals and work teams all the year round in recognition to their valuable efforts to perform their jobs that exceed their daily job duties," said Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Vice President-Human Resource Division and Executive Vice President-Corporate Support Division.

His Excellency has honored twenty-two Special Acts Award winners of Production Division and Mechanical Maintenance Department. The winning team has made great efforts to enhance the efficiency of as many gas turbines as possible and therefore achieved reliability and cost saving at the amount of 23.2 million dirhams through an overall check conducted at GTK 51 and GTK 52 in 2009 and 2010.

His Excellency has also honored seventeen employees from the second team, which won Special Acts Award, from Power Distribution and Transmission Division and Corporate Support Division, whose members have transferred Distribution Control Centre without any disruption on the grid.

Finally, His Excellency and Dr. Yousef Al Akraf have honored the team from Water and Power Planning Division and Distribution Planning Department, whose seventeen members have studied reorganizing and restructuring 132 KV substations to ensure the optimum utilization of power distribution grid as well as building future substations. Thirteen designs have been prepared to transfer loads among substations during record time of 4 weeks which led to postponing the process of establishing a number of 132 KV substations and made savings of 184 million dirham.
