Ahlibank silver sponsor of Oman Environment Day Celebration
Keeping up with the banks Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, ahlibank recently supported Oman Environment Day Celebration by singing up as Silver sponsor of the event. This sponsorship is yet another commitment from the bank supporting activities that raise awareness of local and global issues.
"Our support of this year's World Environment Day is another indicator of our commitment to the future and well-being of our country. World Environment Day is a day for people from all walks of life to come together to ensure a cleaner, greener and brighter outlook for themselves and future generations. The bank strongly believes in the importance of supporting environmental initiatives that have a direct impact on the community and this has been showcased in our CSR calendar for 2012. We encourage organizations as well as individuals to participate in such eco-friendly causes, helping to raise the level of awareness amongst the society." Commented the CEO, Abdul Aziz Al Balushi.
The celebration, which falls on January 8 every year, comes in response to the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to protect the Omani environment and nature resources. Environment protection represents a strategic reserve for the sustainable development plans which cover all aspects of life..
Since inception, the bank has actively been involved in supporting various such causes to support the community it operates in. The bank is known to be an innovator that has aggressively driven its eServices, including e-banking and SMS banking, which help reduce the carbon footprint of the bank by utilizing technology and cutting back on the use of paper. Ahlibank has also implemented a paper recycling initiative across its 12 branches in the Sultanate.
