DM Heritage Expo at Airport ends with huge viewers turn out
A Spectacular photo exhibition, tracing the history and tradition of Dubai , at International Airport organized by Architectural Heritage Department with Municipality and has been on for a week, ended last day. Civic body convened the Expo in association with Airport Authority , for showcasing the rich cultural and historic possession of the Emirate to international viewers. Set in terminal three, with mainly the photos and paintings of old buildings having historic importance on show, expo drew huge number of international travellers who embarked on their air destinations from the international airport, as viewers.

"Preserving the heritage buildings and signs of Emirate has been always a matter of prime consideration with the civic body. Showcasing it to international viewers is interesting and highly laudable. Congratulations to the Heritage Department and thanks to the Airport Authority for supporting the initiative" Said Eng. Abdulla Rafee, Deputy Director General , Dubai Municipality , when he addressed the gathering at the inaugural session .

While detailing about the expo Eng. Ahmed Al Mahmoud, Asst Director of Architectural Heritage Department said "we are proud of showcasing our historic roots by which we could build our present and now, advancing to the future".

"Through this pictures of historic edifices we can have journey along with Dubai from eighteenth century up to the twenty first, where we are at " continued Eng. Ahmed.

Apart from the pictures of old buildings ranged from residential ones to those made for commercial and administrative use, expo also contained paintings made by students from Ahmed Rashid School and a work shop for gypsum arts. Workshop corner led by staff from the central workshop with Architectural Heritage Department gave the viewers opportunity to have a close understanding of the possibilities of gypsum arts. Traditionally designed gateways and other decorations in the expo site were made of materials collected from local environment. Being eco-friendly site sent itself carried a message of nature.

Airport officials led by Ebrahim Al Amiri, who heads the Building Operations, were present at the inaugural and concluding sessions.
