SMEs need to raise quality of work: Tender Board
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the sultanate need to improve the quality of work in order to benefit from the planned government expenditure in 2012, according H E Dr Rasheed al Huraibi, chairman of the Tender Board .The board is currently in the process of improving access by implementing an e-tender system, which would encourage more Omani SMEs to take part in the tendering process.
When asked if there will be a focus on Omani SMEs in the process, H E Huraibi told reporters on the sidelines of the Oman Construction Summit that smaller firms need to enhance the quality of their work.
"The essence is to have effective SMEs and subcontractors and to work on enhancing the quality of their products and services."
He said, "We are very eager to have more Omanis in this sector, and we are also working with concerned entities to encourage subcontractors and SMEs to boost direct and indirect employment."
