Housing projects in Zakho with over 8,000 units

By Ayad Naqeeb DUHOK, Feb. 1 (AKnews) - Duhok's Investment Board has licensed two housing projects in the distrit of Zakho, 509 km north west of Baghdad on Turkish border, that comprise over 8,000 residential units in total.

Housing is one of the main issues in Kurdistan Region. According to statistics, Kurdistan needs 100,000 housing units to overcome shortcomings. The two projects will be worth about US$525 million.

One of the projects comprises 7,496 apartments on 120, 145 and 150 square meter plans. The second project includes 708 villas on 312, 450, 603 and 1,000 square meter plans.

"The two projects also include schools, kindergartens, health centers, and shopping complexes as well" said Falah Haji, Duho Investment Board's Media official.

According to Haji, upon the completion of the two projects, there will be no on in Zakho to need housing.
