Co-operation between Majan College and Glasgow University reviewed
MUSCAT -- Dr Rawya bint Saud al Busaidiya, Minister of Higher Education, received in her office here yesterday Prof Ann Anderson Vice-Principal and Head of Social Sciences College at Glasgow University.The meeting reviewed co-operation with Majan College in MSc Organizational Management programme aimed at building competent administrative cadre in the Sultanate as well as increasing the number of programmes offered at Majan College to include Translation and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).
Dr Rawya also discussed sending Omani postgraduate and undergraduate students to study scientific, engineering and biological specialisations like flight engineering and nano engineering.
The meeting also touched upon the possibility of signing a direct memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the university by which a number of academic programmes could be activated.
Glasgow University is one of the largest Scottish universities and one of the oldest universities in the UK. It is a member of Russell Group Universities and was opened in 1451.
The meeting was attended by Prof James Connery and Graham Donaldson of Glasgow University, Nasr al Hosni, Maha Qubail and Nabila al Maki of Majan College, Sayyida Aliya' al Busaidiya, Director of International Relations at the Ministry of Higher Education, Hamad al Balushi, Director-General of Scholarships and Sa'ida al Subhiya, the Higher Education Minister's Adviser.
