DEWA launches SAP GRC Project
Dubai, UAE, 29 January 2012: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has launched SAP Governance, Risks and Compliance management (SAP GRC) in line with DEWA 's strategy to attract the most advanced techniques and solutions and then incorporate them within its various electronic operations, to provide specifications and flexibility, integrated reports, monitor operational works, as well as to provide the best information that support taking the right decision. This project is considered as a part of the international SAP system for resources planning aiming at measuring and integrating all operations within DEWA to assist in providing the best services for its customers, employees and partners.
"This project is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which aim at simplify the procedures and services provided by government departments and authorities and automate and integrate them within all DEWA 's operations. This will enable DEWA to provide improved services to customers, employees and partners and implement best practices. This in turn supports the Government of the UAE's desire to enhance the adoption of electronic services and encourage the use of the electronic portal to achieve sustainable and balanced development," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA .
"Monitoring risks and electronic compliance will enhance DEWA 's vision to be 'a recognized World-Class Utility'. This transformation will greatly benefit DEWA as it will assist in merging the Risks and Compliance Management to DEWA 's strategy, planning and scientific implantation and achieving the internal controls," added His Excellency.
DEWA has developed its operations and methods of performance through several programs including the launch of Phase One of the SAP system in October 2009, which included Billing Services and Customer Service. Phase Two, launched at the start of 2012, implements four main projects: BARQ for new connections and handling technical complaints, MAWAD for purchases and warehousing, DARAHIM for Finance and Accounting and KAWADER for human resources functions.
