Dubai and Tunisia's Sfax chambers seek stronger trade ties

Dubai Chamber receives Tunisian delegation representing over 20 companies from the governorate of Sfax

Dubai Chamber members' exports and re-exports to Tunisia valued at AED 645 million at the end of 2011

Al Ghurair: Shared vision between the two chambers of commerce will help drive their countries' economies
Dubai, UAE: H.E. Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry , welcomed a Tunisian delegation representing over 20 companies, headed by H.E. Ridha Fourati, Vice President, Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of the two chambers' efforts in strengthening commercial ties between their respective chambers and countries.

The delegation, consisting of business leaders, mostly from the building material and general trading sectors, was received by H.E. Al Ghurair during a business networking and matchmaking meeting hosted by Dubai Chamber on Thursday. Mr. Kamal Bin Hussain, the Consul General of the Republic of Tunisia in Dubai, also attended the meeting.

The Tunisian business mission's three country GCC tour brought them to the UAE and was slated to cover Bahrain and Kuwait later. The idea behind their Gulf tour is to search for new markets and partnerships in the region.

In his welcome address, H.E. Al Ghurair said that trade is vital for Dubai and Dubai Chamber and at presently there are 90 Tunisian companies operating in the Emirate and they are supported by the Tunisian Business Council which is doing a good job to support and represent their country's business interests.

The Chairman of Dubai Chamber also expressed his desire to see more Tunisian companies benefitting from Dubai's extensive modern infrastructure and competitive, tax-free working environment. "Shared vision between our two chambers of commerce will bring our business communities closer together and in turn help drive our countries' economies," he said.

Highlighting Dubai Chamber members' exports and re-exports to Tunisia, which valued at AED 645 million at the end of last year, Al Ghurair added that Dubai Chamber is ready to assist Tunisian businessmen by exchanging knowledge and providing business matching and networking opportunities that will help drive private sector growth both in Sfax and the Emirates.

H.E. Al Ghurair also informed that Tunisia ranked 85th on the list of Dubai's top trading partners, hence there is much potential to improve and enhance this relationship, he said.

On his part, H.E. Ridha Fourati, highlighted the importance of the investment opportunities available in food, garments, furniture, industrial equipments, building materials and general trading in the Sfax governorate area. He called upon Dubai Chamber to exchange expertise through mutual trade missions and to seek enhanced trade cooperation on both the sides.


The Vice President of the Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry also lauded Dubai Chamber 's role in supporting and strengthening trade relations with his strategic city and country.
